Local services and rules
Moving to Eagan: who to call and what the city asks.
Eagan runs a year-round odd-even outdoor watering plan: addresses ending in an odd number water on odd days of the month, and even-numbered addresses water on even days. The only exceptions are new sod, seed or landscaping for the first three weeks of planting. The City of Eagan also does not provide garbage service, so residents arrange it with a licensed hauler.
Dumpsters, trailers and storage pods
The City of Eagan does not allow dumpsters, trailers, storage pods or landscape material to be deposited or stored in the street. They must be placed within the property, in the driveway or yard, with no exceptions.
Winter parking, plowing and street sweeping
Winter parking rules run from November 15 through April 15 whether or not it has snowed. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., parking is on the even-numbered side of the street on even days and the odd-numbered side on odd days. Overnight, both sides are allowed. Cars parked wrongly may be ticketed or towed.
City crews begin plowing once two inches of snow is on the ground, starting with higher volume City streets and then residential streets and cul-de-sacs. Dakota County and the State of Minnesota maintain the county roads (Cliff Road, Diffley Road, Lexington Avenue, Lone Oak Road, Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road) and the state and interstate highways in Eagan.
The City sweeps its streets to benefit lake water quality. A spring round starts as soon as the weather permits, and a fall round starts in September depending on conditions.
Noise between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., noise from construction activity, delivery of supplies, heavy construction equipment and power tools that is plainly heard and disturbing the peace may be reported to the Police Department.
