Before you compare quotes
How a long-distance move is priced.
Weight, distance and extras
Interstate movers usually price by the weight of your shipment and the miles it travels, under their published tariff. Stairs, long carries, shuttle trucks and packing are charged on top.
Binding or non-binding
A binding estimate fixes the price for the items and services listed. With a non-binding estimate the mover can require no more than 110% of the estimate at delivery and bills the rest after 30 days.
What covers your things
On an interstate move, full value protection applies unless you choose released value in writing. Released value costs nothing extra and pays 60 cents per pound per article.
