Local services and rules

Moving to Twin Falls: who to call and what the city asks.

Twin Falls is the county seat of Twin Falls County, Idaho. The city does not normally plow subdivisions or residential streets; sand and salt mixed with deicer is applied at almost all intersections. Private streets have blue street signs and public streets have green ones; the city maintains public streets only, and property owners maintain private streets.

Downtown parking, Ride TFT and the airport

Free customer parking is available downtown on Main Avenue, 2nd Avenue, Hansen Street and Gooding Street, with a 2-hour limit where posted.

Ride TFT is the city's public transportation service, open to anyone in Twin Falls and booked through an app. It runs Monday through Saturday, with after-hours service and service to the airport.

Magic Valley Regional Airport is about six minutes from downtown Twin Falls.

One monthly utility bill from the city

Trash collection, water and sewer are all billed together on one monthly utility bill from the city.

Utility Services at City Hall connects new customers to city water, sewer, garbage and recycling service. Utility payments are due twenty-one days after the billing date and are delinquent after thirty-one days.

Water meters are not read in December, January and February, so water use for those months is estimated from the same residence's use the previous year.

PSI Environmental Systems carts

PSI Environmental Systems collects household trash under a city contract and provides a disposal container to each occupied residence within the city limits. Blue garbage carts go on a level surface at the curb or in the alley by 6 a.m. for same-day collection.

PSI collects household recyclables every other week on the same day as regular trash pickup, using the orange-lid recycle carts it delivers to each household.

The transfer station at 2186 Orchard Dr. E.

Residents are part of the Southern Idaho Solid Waste district and can take antifreeze, motor oil, batteries and sharps to the transfer station at 2186 Orchard Dr. E.

The household hazardous waste program is for households only; accumulated hazardous waste from businesses is not accepted.

Lawn watering by address

Treated city water for lawns is watered by address: even-numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Watering with city water is allowed only on the appropriate days and only between 5 p.m. and 10 a.m.

Subdivisions on canal-water pressurized irrigation water by calendar day instead: even-numbered addresses on even days and odd-numbered addresses on odd days.

Pet and backyard animal limits

Residential zones allow no more than four dogs and four cats per household.

Up to four hen chickens or three rabbits can be kept without a permit; other animals need one unless kept indoors at all times.
