Local services and rules

Moving to Hallandale Beach: who to call and what the city asks.

Hallandale Beach is a city in southern Broward County, Florida. Buildings 40 years and older must comply with the Broward County Building Safety Inspection Program, which the city administers in conjunction with the county. The city's community shuttle, The Cloud, is all-electric.

Maintenance of Traffic permits

A Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) permit is required for any activity in the public right-of-way that impacts traffic flow or pedestrian access. Activities that need one include lane closures, sidewalk closures, parking lane closures, construction staging, excavation and utility work. The Transportation & Mobility Department reviews MOT permit applications for safety, ADA accessibility and traffic impacts.

Pay-to-Park signs, police enforcement and the 25 MPH limit

Signs marked Pay-to-Park show that hourly parking payment is required in that parking zone. The Hallandale Beach Police Department enforces all parking-related codes throughout the city.

Two-lane local residential streets have a 25 MPH maximum speed limit unless otherwise posted.

The Resident Parking Program and Broward County Library cards

Discounted hourly parking rates are available exclusively to Hallandale Beach residents through the PaybyPhone mobile app. Residents sign up for the Resident Parking Program, online or by contacting the Parking Services team, to get the reduced hourly rates.

Broward County Library issues the library cards. An Instant eCard is applied for online, and the All-Access Card for borrowing physical items is applied for in person at a branch.

City Hall payments and the Sanitation Division

Utility bills are paid at the Utilities and Cashiers Office at City Hall, which stops taking in-person payments after 5:00 p.m.; online services are also available.

Garbage and trash service is provided through the Sanitation Division, which posts pick-up schedules and bulk waste information. Bulk trash and yard waste is picked up monthly, and only for residential accounts with four or fewer units. Debris for bulk pickup goes in the swale by 7:00 AM on the Monday of the section's collection week. Residential accounts with five or more units request bulk trash pickup through the Sanitation Department for a fee.

The Cloud shuttle and Hollywood Station

The Cloud shuttle connects riders to the wider regional transit network, including routes operated by Broward County Transit. It stops only at designated bus stops.

The nearest Tri-Rail stop is Hollywood Station, reached by one of the Cloud Community Shuttle routes.

Vacation rental operating licenses

All owners of vacation rentals are required to obtain an operating license annually. The rule applies to all properties, including rooms and guest houses, rented for less than 30 consecutive days.
