Valdosta is the county seat of Lowndes County, Georgia. Single-family homes pay a fixed monthly stormwater rate based on impervious area, including rooftops, driveways, detached garages and accessory buildings. The city's residential sanitation service provides one roll-out cart free for each residence, assigned by address, and the cart stays at the former residence when a household moves.
Georgia Power and Colquitt EMC
According to a Valdosta State University student page, Georgia Power is one of two electricity providers in Valdosta and Remerton; Colquitt EMC is the other. Georgia Power requires one of the residents to be the primary account holder before electricity is turned on at a new home.
Water service at 102 N. Lee Street
New water service is activated in person at the city's Customer Service Center, at 102 N. Lee Street. A lease agreement or closing statement is needed when setting up new service. Active military personnel can obtain a waiver of the residential deposit.
Ending service takes written notice with the disconnection date and a forwarding address.
Weekly garbage, bulk and yard trash collection
Residential household garbage is collected once a week, Monday to Friday. Service is started through the Customer Service Division of the Finance Department. Containers go to the curb no earlier than noon the day before collection.

Recycling is by drop-off rather than curbside, at 3130 Val Tech Rd. Recyclables must be clean, dry and empty, and cardboard boxes must be broken down.
Valdosta City Schools residency requirements
Valdosta City Schools requires new students to live within the Valdosta city limits with their parents or legal guardians. A current utility bill or connection receipt no more than 30 days old is accepted as proof of residency.
Valdosta On-Demand transit
Valdosta On-Demand is a public, on-demand transit service booked through an app, where riders give pickup and dropoff addresses. It runs Monday to Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
