Local services and rules

Moving to Conshohocken: who to call and what the city asks.

Borough trash and recycling service is included in resident taxes, and new residents do not need to set it up. When a resident moves, the Borough-issued carts stay at the house for the next resident. The Borough does not collect household hazardous waste, and Montgomery County has no dedicated drop-off facility for it; residents use free county collection events held between April and October.

Parking permits from Borough Hall

Residential parking permits are issued at Borough Hall, 400 Fayette Street, Suite 200, for a one-time $15 fee. Applicants need a driver's license and vehicle registration showing the Borough address.

Renters can get a permit with an updated driver's license, a registration showing the Borough address, and a copy of their rental agreement.

Parking stickers are mailed, and the Borough asks residents to allow 5-7 business days for delivery. A residential parking permit does not allow parking in metered areas.

Snow emergency routes on Fayette Street

During a declared snow emergency, parking is restricted on the snow emergency routes, which include both sides of Fayette Street from the Borough line to the bridge and all metered areas, and vehicles may be towed.

Cones, lawn chairs and other objects may not be used to reserve parking spaces during a snowstorm. A 3-foot-wide path on the sidewalk must be cleared within 24 hours after the snow has stopped.

Public Services aims to clear all Borough and state roads within six to 10 hours after snow stops falling.

East Side Mondays, West Side Tuesdays

Trash and recycling are collected once a week: Mondays on the East Side and Tuesdays on the West Side of the Borough. Unapproved containers are tagged and receive no pickups until they comply with the cart rules.

Yard waste is collected weekly on Wednesdays on both the East and West sides, and grass clippings are not accepted.

Bulk pickup at $125.00 a ton

Each household may put out one large piece of furniture or bulk item per month with regular trash, such as a sofa or box springs. Mattresses and box springs must be in a waterproof, airtight, sealed bag when put at the curb.

Residents who are cleaning out or moving out can arrange a Borough pickup of bulk debris for an additional cost, on Mondays and Tuesdays; call 610-828-1092. Bulk debris pickups are billed by weight at a prorated $125.00 a ton.

Large metal items such as stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators and metal furniture are picked up free by appointment on Wednesdays; call 610-828-1092.

Conshohocken Sewer Authority, Aqua Pennsylvania, Comcast and Verizon

Sewer service is run by the Conshohocken Sewer Authority, which is separate from the Borough administration; billing, payments and service questions go to the Authority at 610-828-0979. Water is listed as Aqua Pennsylvania.

Comcast and Verizon lines run through the Borough, and the Borough directs residents to each company for downed cable lines.

Berkheimer Associates and Montgomery County Voter Services

Local earned income taxes are collected by Montgomery County, with Berkheimer Associates as the county's collector. The Borough's total millage rate in 2025 was 36.637 mills, covering the Borough, Montgomery County, Colonial School District and Montgomery County Community College.

Montgomery County Voter Services handles registration, at One Montgomery Plaza, 425 Swede Street, Suite 602, Norristown; phone (610) 278-3280.

Rental license and Use and Occupancy Permit

Rental property owners must apply for a residential rental license permit on or before April 15 each year.

Property owners need a Use and Occupancy Permit whenever tenants change in a building; the fee is $100 for a single-family dwelling and $75 per unit for multi-family.

Colonial School District, SEPTA and the Conshohocken Free Library

Conshohocken Borough is part of the Colonial School District, whose administrative offices are at 230 Flourtown Road, Plymouth Meeting, phone (610) 834-1670.

SEPTA serves Conshohocken with regional rail and two bus routes. The SEPTA Regional Rail Manayunk/Norristown line runs through Conshohocken to and from Center City Philadelphia. Two SEPTA bus routes run through Conshohocken: Route 95 (Willow Grove to Gulph Mills) and Route 97 (Norristown Transportation Center to Chestnut Hill).

The Conshohocken Free Library, at 301 Fayette Street, is a branch of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library.
