Gettysburg is a borough in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Any proposed alterations to properties in the Gettysburg Historic District must be granted a Certificate of Appropriateness before work may begin. The Racehorse Alley parking garage has an entrance clearance of 6'10". rabbittransit serves Gettysburg with the Lincoln Line, the Blue Line, the Gray Line and the Gold Line.
Overnight parking, permit stickers and Public Works
Parking is not allowed between 2 am and 6 am on streets with 3-hour parking, and signs are posted on each such street.
Residential parking permit (RPP) stickers are replaced through the Gettysburg Borough Parking Department, which needs the new vehicle information.
The borough Public Works Department handles street cleaning, snow and ice control, leaf removal and brush removal.
Gettysburg Municipal Authority and Storm Water Authority bills
The Gettysburg Municipal Authority (GMA) bills water and sewer service, and it provides water and wastewater service to the borough and to portions of Cumberland and Straban Townships. The Storm Water Authority bills separately and has its own payment portal.
Tax collectors and school registration
A local elected tax collector bills and collects the borough property tax. Adams County has chosen the York Adams Tax Bureau to collect earned income tax and local services tax for the borough and the Gettysburg Area School District.
New students register online with the Gettysburg Area School District. After the required documents are submitted, Central Registration notifies the appropriate school.
Rental Unit Occupancy Ordinance and short-term rentals
All residential rental units in the borough are regulated by the Rental Unit Occupancy Ordinance, with annual licensure and periodic inspection.
A short-term rental needs a Land Use Permit and a Certificate of Use and Occupancy.
