Moving to Rock Hill: who to call and what the city asks.

The City of Rock Hill water system is the regional provider, supplying wholesale water to Fort Mill, Tega Cay, York County and the Catawba Indian Nation. Rock Hill is in York County, South Carolina, where the York County Natural Gas Authority supplies natural gas throughout the county. The Rock Hill-York County Airport (UZA) is a general aviation airport that does not serve scheduled commercial passenger airlines.

City of Rock Hill electric, water and sewer service

The City of Rock Hill provides electric service to residential and commercial customers in the greater Rock Hill area. The city also provides water service to customers in Rock Hill, and sanitary sewer service to residential and commercial customers in the greater Rock Hill area.

Garbage roll carts and recycling bins

Residential garbage must be bagged and put inside 95-gallon green roll carts for automated collection. Residential recycling is collected in blue bins at the curb on the same day as residential garbage.

The City of Rock Hill collects large yard debris from residents by request only.

York County Collection & Recycling Centers and the York County Landfill

Televisions, computers and tires can be dropped off at any of the York County Collection & Recycling Center locations. Used motor oil, automobile batteries and corrugated cardboard can also be taken to a York County Collection and Recycling Center.

Construction and remodeling materials can be taken to the York County Landfill, and small loads to the County Collection & Recycling Centers.

City Customer Service and new utility accounts

Customer Service handles requests to connect, disconnect and transfer utility service, and answers utility billing questions. Residential rental customers submit a new service agreement with a copy of a state-issued photo identification and a copy of their lease or welcome letter. Rock Hill Schools zoning and enrollment

Rock Hill Schools says students attend the school they are zoned for by residence. New families can enter a street address in the School Locator to find which school a student will attend. Only the parent or legal guardian can enroll a student with Rock Hill Schools, and must be present at the time of enrollment.

York County library cards, property tax offices and voter registration

York County Library cards are free to York County residents, property owners, workers, and students of higher education. A card is issued at a York County Library location or the Bookmobile with current proof of identity and residency.

For property tax purposes, the York County Assessor office places value on land and buildings and maintains the property inventory. The York County Auditor office lists and assesses taxable personal property such as cars, campers, trailers and watercraft.
