Local services and rules

Moving to Bonita Springs: who to call and what the city asks.

Bonita Springs is a city in Lee County, Florida. Bonita Springs Utilities holds a franchise service area that includes the City of Bonita Springs, a portion of the Village of Estero and unincorporated south Lee County. The city also has a noise ordinance that regulates nuisances for specific events and times of day, and loud music at night and on weekends is handled by the Lee County Sheriff's Department.

Rental permits from Neighborhood Services

Rental units within the city limits need a rental permit issued through the Neighborhood Services Department. The unit must pass an inspection by a Code Enforcement Officer. Once issued, the permit is valid for three years from the date the application is submitted.

Water, gas and trash contacts

A new water customer starts service with Bonita Springs Utilities by providing identification, a member application, a W-9 form, proof of ownership or lease, and an electronic funds transfer request form. The Customer Service Center is at 11900 E. Terry Street.

The city's contact page lists TECO Peoples Gas under utilities, and Lee County Solid Waste as the contact for waste disposal and curbside recycling.

Flood zones and the National Flood Insurance Program

Bonita Springs participates in the National Flood Insurance Program, which makes flood insurance available to residents and property owners in the city. The city's flood protection page has a map labeling which flood zone each property lies within. Community Development answers questions at (239) 444-6150.

Lee County School District and the Focus Parent Portal

The same contact page lists Lee County School District, with Bonita Springs Elementary, Bonita Springs Middle School and Bonita Springs High School.

Students new to Lee County register online through the district's Focus Parent Portal after collecting the registration documents.

LeeTran, Passport and Southwest Florida International Airport

LeeTran, the bus system serving the area, is operated under the authority of Lee County Government and the Lee County Board of Commissioners. LeeTran also runs Passport, an ADA paratransit service along the same corridors as the regular buses, for people who cannot use the fixed routes.

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), operated by the Lee County Port Authority, is about 20 minutes from Bonita Springs and has domestic and international flights.

The Bonita Springs Branch library and the Supervisor of Elections

The Lee County Public Library has a Bonita Springs Branch at 26876 Pine Avenue.

Municipal elections in Bonita Springs are administered by the Lee County Supervisor of Elections, which also handles voter registration assistance, vote-by-mail requests and early voting information.
