Local services and rules

Moving to Roselle: who to call and what the city asks.

Roselle sits in both DuPage and Cook Counties. The village has a partial train horn quiet zone from midnight to 5:00 a.m. at the Roselle Road, Prospect Street and Park Street crossings; outside those hours horns are sounded. Refuse and recycling carts must be stored out of view from the street, such as in a garage, shed or back yard.

On-street parking, curb position and the Oxcart Permit System

On-street parking is not allowed between 2:00 am and 5:00 am, year round. Vehicles must be parked with the passenger side tires to the curb, no more than 12 inches from the curb, except on diagonal parking spaces or one way streets.

Overweight and oversize truck permits are requested online through the Oxcart Permit System.

Water and sewer service from Lake Michigan

Roselle's water supply comes from Lake Michigan. To open water and sewer service, the Village's New Resident Information page asks for a completed Water/Sewer Application and a copy of a government issued identification such as a drivers license, state issued ID card or passport.

Water and sewer bills are due on the sixth day of every month.

The same page also covers utility billing, garbage and recycling pickup, alarm system registration and how to report a concern.

Flood Brothers Disposal pickup days

Flood Brothers Disposal provides weekly refuse and recycling service and seasonal yard waste pickup to Roselle residents. Garbage, recycling and yard waste are picked up on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, depending on where in Roselle you live.

To begin new service, a resident contacts Flood Brothers Customer Service at (630) 261-0400.

Electronics, hazardous waste and sharps drop-off

Flood Brothers offers curbside electronics and hazardous waste collection for a fee of $25 for up to six items, with no more than two televisions per pickup. It must be arranged at least 24 hours ahead at (630) 261-0400.

Roselle residents can also drop off electronics at the Bloomingdale Township Highway Department, 6N030 Rosedale Ave., during its quarterly Electronic Recycling Events.

The Roselle Fire Department takes properly packaged sharps at the Fire Station, 100 E. Maple Ave., Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Library cards and voter registration

The Roselle Public Library District issues cards on proof of identity and residency: a photo ID with a current address, or a utility bill, bank statement or lease showing the new address.

Residents can register to vote at the Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Park St., or at the Bloomingdale Township, Schaumburg Public Library or Schaumburg Township offices. Two forms of identification are required, one with the current address.

The Milwaukee District/West Line and I-390

The Roselle Metra Station is on the Milwaukee District/West Line, with service to and from Union Station in downtown Chicago.

Roselle has access to the I-390 tollway.

Lawn watering hours, garage sales and short-term rentals

From May 15 to September 15, watering lawns, gardens or outdoor landscaping is not permitted between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Residents may hold two garage sales a year, each no more than three consecutive days.

Short-term rentals must be owner-occupied, owners must register with the Village, and the rental term must be at least three but not more than 30 days.

The 1.5% home rule sales tax, pet tags and yard flooding help

The Village of Roselle has a 1.5% home rule sales tax.

Roselle has no pet license. Owners still need the rabies vaccination and tag from their county of residence, sold by the vet at vaccination.

The Village runs a cost sharing program to help property owners who have yard flooding problems, on a first come first serve basis subject to available funding.
