Moving to Sugar Grove: who to call and what the city asks.

Sugar Grove is a village in Kane County, Illinois. The village does not have transfer stamps. All local roads within the village are non-designated truck routes.

Overnight parking, snowfall and construction hours

Parking any vehicle on any street within the village between 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. is prohibited, with exceptions allowed on request to the Police Department. Parking on any public street within the village is unlawful during or after a snowfall of two or more inches until the street has been plowed.

Allowable hours for construction noise within the village are 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Permits are required for most improvements and alterations to structures and property. All contractors performing work in the village must be registered prior to permit issuance.

Village utility bills and the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District

New residents request village utility and refuse services online or by calling 630-391-7202. The village bills residents for water usage and sends utility bills once a month. Village utility bills include charges for water, sanitary sewer, road maintenance and refuse, and are always due on the 17th of each month.

The village maintains sewer lines and lift stations, while Fox Metro Water Reclamation District provides wastewater treatment and bills separately, every other month, for that service.

Water conservation rules let even-numbered addresses water on even dates from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Lakeshore Recycling Systems weekly collection

Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) provides weekly curbside garbage and recycling collection for village residents only, not residents of the Prestbury community. Pick-up days vary within the village. Residents are provided containers for recycling and refuse, and containers go at the street by 5:30 a.m. on pickup day.

Yard waste is collected weekly from April 1st through the last refuse pickup in November.

Bulk items, mattresses and white goods

One large bulk item is allowed per week in addition to refuse and recycling. Large items include furniture, carpet rolls, mattresses, box springs, toilets and some construction debris. A mattress and a box spring count as two separate items.

White goods may be placed out weekly, and pick-up requests must be scheduled no later than the Thursday before the pick-up week.

Drop box, hazardous waste and electronics pick-up

A prescription drug drop box is in the Police Department entryway at 10 S. Municipal Drive, open to the public 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. No needles, syringes or liquids are accepted.

Household hazardous waste collection must be scheduled in advance online. Items are placed near the front door or porch area, or at the top of the driveway near the garage door. An electronics waste pick-up must be scheduled online the week before the pickup.

Library cards, Kane County Clerk and flood maps

A Sugar Grove Public Library card is obtained at the circulation desk with a photo ID and proof of residency, or by applying online. Residents of Sugar Grove Township and Blackberry Township south of Seavey Road, except areas annexed by North Aurora and Aurora, may obtain a card from the Sugar Grove Public Library District.

Voting and elections are handled by the Kane County Clerk.
