Water and sewer accounts at 280 Georgia Avenue

Opening a utility account takes a completed application form and proof of ownership or lease of the property where service will be. Utility bills can be paid online or at the Finance Office at 280 Georgia Avenue.

Drinking water comes from the Waynesville Water Treatment Plant, located at the head of Allens Creek. Waynesville also operates a wastewater treatment plant.

Weekly curbside collection inside town limits

Household waste and recyclables are collected weekly at curbside. Collection days depend on where a household lives in the town, and the Public Services Department gives the specific day.

The town provides sanitation service to residential and commercial customers within town limits. Collected waste goes directly to White Oak Landfill, which is owned and operated by Haywood County.

Normal garbage and recycling collection days may change during holiday weeks. During snow events garbage service may be delayed; waste is still placed out for collection and crews catch up once streets are clear.

Items curbside collection does not accept

Carpet, toilets, tubs, sinks, tires, building materials, concrete, counters, doors, shingles, commercial trash and heavy auto parts are not accepted at curbside. Disposal information for these items is available from the Haywood County Recovery Facility at 627-8042.

Haywood County convenience centers and the Clyde facility

Haywood County convenience centers accept household bagged trash and loose recycling from county residents. Construction debris, commercial waste, brush and waste generated outside Haywood County are not accepted there.

The county Materials Recovery Facility in Clyde takes bagged household waste, loose recycling and bulky waste.
