Moving to Aliso Viejo: who to call and what the city asks.

Aliso Viejo is both a city and a master-planned community. The Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) is responsible for common area maintenance including parks, greenbelts, parkways and slopes, and for enforcing covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&Rs). The city's utility directory also splits electricity at a single road, and sends one small area to a different water district from the rest of town.

The 72-hour street limit and the 24-foot oversized vehicle line

The city's FAQ puts the maximum parking time limit for any vehicle on a public street at 72 hours. The same page defines an oversized vehicle as one longer than 24 feet, wider than 84 inches, or heavier than 10,000 pounds.

Construction noise hours and the 10:00 p.m. quiet hours

Under the city code, construction, repair, remodeling or grading noise is exempt from the noise rules only outside 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays, 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, and at any time on Sunday or a federal holiday.

Quiet hours in residential areas are 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

CR&R containers at the curb by 6:00 a.m.

On collection day, CR&R asks that containers be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. Regular trash pickup is delayed one day during holidays.

Orange County residents can drop off household hazardous waste free at any of the County's four collection centers, open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed on major holidays and during rainy weather. Orange County property tax dates: November 1, December 10 and April 10

Secured property taxes in Orange County are due in two installments: the first is due November 1 and the last day to pay without penalty is December 10. The last day to pay the second installment is April 10; late payments incur a 10 percent penalty and $23 fee.
