Local services and rules

Moving to Blandon: who to call and what the city asks.

Blandon is one of the villages that make up Maidencreek Township, along with Maiden Creek, Molltown, Evansville and Buena Vista, and the township is centrally located in Berks County. The township has a significant amount of recorded sinkholes and depressions because of the limestone geology in the area. Police service comes from the Northern Berks Regional Police Department, fire service from the Blandon Volunteer Fire Company, and emergency medical service from Northern Berks EMS.

Recycling bins and stickers

Maidencreek Township provides curbside recycling pickup for residential dwellings. The exception is apartment buildings with more than four units. Recycling goes out by the road the evening before pickup.

Recycling is picked up only if it is in a Maidencreek Township-issued recycling bin or carries a Maidencreek recycling sticker. The township provides recycling bins and lids to residents, and stickers for residents who use their own bins.

The blue recycling bins take plastic bottles (1-7), steel and aluminum cans, and unbroken glass jars and bottles of all colors.

Yard waste drop-off on Lakeshore Drive

The township provides a yard waste drop-off site at 61 Lakeshore Drive, next to the Township building. Access to the site requires an application and a waiver form turned in at the Township Building for a keycard. The site is open from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm daily.

Curbside brush pickup runs in spring and fall at designated times.

Water and sewer from the Maidencreek Township Authority

The Maidencreek Township Authority provides water and sewer service to the village of Blandon and to Maiden Creek. The Authority reads water meters in January, April, July and October.

The Authority is responsible for the water and sanitary sewer lines from the main in the street to the property line.

Fleetwood Area School District registration

Maidencreek Township is part of the Fleetwood Area School District, and Andrew Maier Elementary is located in the township.

New families to the district register through the district online registration application. Online registration requires uploading documents, including proof of age and immunizations.

Voting precincts and flood maps

Maidencreek Township has voting precincts, and residents can find their precinct by entering an address on the township lookup.

Flood risk by address can be looked up on the NFIP flood map for the community from the FEMA Map Service Center.
