Moving to Gardnerville: who to call and what the city asks.

Gardnerville is an unincorporated town in Douglas County, Nevada, adjacent to the county seat of Minden. Curbside recycling is not available in the Town of Gardnerville. The K-9 Korral is the only Town park where dogs are allowed.

Trash collection by neighborhood

Trash service is mandatory within the Town of Gardnerville, and the Town Office handles questions about it at 775-782-7134. Residential trash is collected on Wednesdays and Thursdays depending on the neighborhood, with a 200lb weight limit. Cans must be out by 5:30 am the day of pickup or the night before.

Trash is picked up on all holidays except Christmas. Residential areas on the trash schedule include Downtown, Sunset Park, Carson Valley Estates, Arbor Gardens, Stodick Estates, Chichester, The Ranch at Gardnerville, Kingslane, Heybourne Meadows/Esplanade and Martins Meadows.

Bear-resistant trash containers are offered to residents on request and are collected weekly like the regular cans.

Greenwaste and hazardous waste

Greenwaste (lawn clippings, weeds, leaves and small branches) is collected townwide on Tuesdays. The service is suspended from the 2nd week in January through the last week in March each year.

Street sweeping and leaves

Street sweeping generally occurs on Fridays and may also occur on Mondays in the fall months. It generally does not occur Tuesday through Thursday, when solid waste totes are on the streets.

Moving leaves from a property into the street is against County Code, and large piles of leaves in the roadway are skipped by the sweeper.

Snow on roads and sidewalks

Town staff begin clearing snow from the roadways once snow reaches 6 inches in depth. Residents clear the sidewalks next to the roadway of snow and ice, and County Code allows 72 hours after a snow event to finish.

School zones and enrollment

The school district assigns students to zoned attendance areas, and online registration shows the child's zoned school based on the home address. After online registration, the school needs the child's birth certificate or other proof of identity, proof of residency and immunization records to complete enrollment.
