In Johnstown, vehicles and loads entering the City from Geistown Hill, Frankstown Road and Prospect Hill have a maximum gross weight of 11,000 pounds when signs are erected giving notice. Since 2022, the Cambria County Treasurer's Office collects both the City of Johnstown property taxes and the Greater Johnstown School District property taxes for those living within the city limits.
Greater Johnstown Water Authority accounts
The Greater Johnstown Water Authority bills its customers and offers online bill payment and autopay. It also has a New Customer page with forms and applications for new customers.
The City sold its sanitary sewer system to the Authority in June of 2020, and the Authority now manages it, according to the City's sewer system page.
Loading zone permits and Residential Parking Permits
The Director of Finance, along with the Police Chief and the City Manager, can issue permits for loading zones on application and payment of a fee set by City Council.
Residents living downtown can get a Residential Parking Permit to park at non-core meters from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents near 90 minute on-street parking zones, in neighborhoods like the 8th Ward, can use the same kind of permit to park there without the 90 minute limit.
Proof of residency and registration is required for a permit, and the vehicle registration must match the address.

A snow emergency is declared by the City's Emergency Operations Coordinator and announced by 6:00 p.m. the day of the event, or the day before if it is expected to start overnight or early in the morning. The City's code defines a snow emergency event as one where snow accumulation is expected to exceed six inches, or where other winter weather creates an emergency.
The City's noise ordinance lists as a prohibited loud noise the creation of a loud and excessive noise in connection with loading or unloading any vehicle.
